The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) enriches lives through education and stewardship of North Carolina’s natural and cultural resources.

 

DNCR manages over 100 locations across the state, including 28 historic sites, 8 history museums, 2 art museums, 5 science museums, 4 aquariums, 35 state parks, 4 recreation areas, 2 commissions, NC Loo, Library of NC, State Archives, State Historic Preservation Office, Office of State Archaeology, Highway Historical Marker Program, NC Land and Water Fund and Natural Heritage Program.

 

DNCR attractions are a key part of North Carolina’s $35 billion tourism industry, $16 billion outdoor recreation and $2.3 billion arts and culture economy.
