North Carolina Awards Ceremony Set for November 13 in Asheville
Proceeds to Support Hurricane Helene Recovery Efforts in Western North Carolina
Governor Josh Stein has announced that this year’s North Carolina Awards—the state’s highest civilian honor—will be presented on Wednesday, November 13, at the historic Grove Park Inn in Asheville. Net proceeds from the event will benefit a fund dedicated to helping communities in western North Carolina recover from Hurricane Helene.
“We’re proud to bring this year’s ceremony to western North Carolina, a region that’s open, welcoming, and ready for visitors,” said Governor Stein. “This is our chance to celebrate the very best of North Carolina while supporting the ongoing recovery efforts and encouraging tourism in the area.”
For more than 60 years, the North Carolina Awards have recognized exceptional contributions to literature, science, fine arts, and public service. Administered by the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR), the awards honor individuals who have made a lasting impact on the state and beyond.
“We’re excited to host one of North Carolina’s most prestigious events in Asheville this year,” said DNCR Secretary Pamela B. Cashwell. “It’s a special opportunity to honor extraordinary North Carolinians while giving back to communities that are rebuilding after Hurricane Helene.”
This announcement builds on Governor Stein’s recent partnership with Visit NC to encourage people to “Rediscover the Unforgettable” in western North Carolina. The campaign highlights outdoor adventures, local businesses, and iconic destinations now welcoming visitors again following storm recovery.
Tickets for the November 13 ceremony will be available soon.
