Frequently Asked Questions

This is a great idea! How can I help?
Spread the word! Tell everyone you know about this website, and encourage them to sign up and post their own natural outings. You can also tag your social media posts with #takeachildoutside .

Does playing baseball or soccer outside count as “taking a child outside?”
Generally playing organized sports outside does not “count” towards taking a child outside, because the focus is the game, and not the outdoors. Some sports, such as fishing, would “count” because in order to be successful at fishing you have to focus on the natural world.

How can my organization become a partner?
Partners can be organizations that support getting children outdoors or places for people to go outside, such as a city park. If you are interested in becoming a partner please contact Karen Ipock at educationoutreach@dncr.nc.gov or 252-639-3545.
