Monthly lecture series returns to N.C. History Center June 19
Tryon Palace research historian Siobhan Fitzpatrick will explore the early history of Tryon Palace and New Bern during a Lunch and Learn lecture held at the North Carolina History Center in downtown New Bern on Friday, June 19. The lecture, entitled “The History of Tryon Palace,” will begin at noon.
Participants will discover why New Bern was selected as the site of the first permeant capital in North Carolina, the architectural innovations employed by John Hawks and what moving the capital to Raleigh meant for Tryon Palace.
This monthly brownbag lunch series will be held in the Debnam-Hunt Board Room on the second-floor of the North Carolina History Center, which overlooks the Trent River in downtown New Bern.
Tickets to this event are $6 for adults and free for members of the Tryon Palace Foundation. Each Lunch and Learn will begin at noon and guests will meet in Mattocks Hall inside the North Carolina History Center.
