State Library Announces Federal Grants to Local Libraries

The State Library of North Carolina announces the 2022-2023 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant awardees. This year's federal allotment will be distributed on behalf of North Carolina's libraries through programs and services available under the North Carolina LSTA Five Year Plan. The 37 awards, totaling $2,047,954, go to local library projects that:

     • Strengthen Capacity
     • Expand Access
     • Engage Communities

N.C. Land and Water Fund Awards $60.4 Million to Protect Natural Areas, Waterways, Historic Sites and Military Buffers

The North Carolina Land and Water Fund awarded grants in September and December totaling $60.4 million, providing funds for 83 projects that will protect North Carolina’s land and water from the mountains to the coast, Governor Roy Cooper announced today.

NEA announces over $33 million in project funding nationally, including $540,000 for North Carolina arts organizations and artists

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced its first round of recommended awards for the fiscal year 2022, totaling nearly $33.2 million, on Jan. 11. Of that amount, $540,000 was awarded to 28 North Carolina grant recipients from arts organizations, universities, theater companies, discipline-specific festivals, and museums.

Year in Review: The North Carolina Arts Council Awarded Almost $8 Million in Grant Funds in FY21-22

In its continued effort to support the arts sector through the pandemic, the North Carolina Arts Council distributed $7.9 million in grant funds to arts organizations and artists across the state in FY21-22. The source of these funds was a combination of state, federal, and private dollars. The Arts Council awarded 378 grants in 12 categories.

Parks and Recreation Trust Fund Grants Will Fund Projects Across North Carolina

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources announced that the N.C. Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) Authority has approved $28.6 million in capital improvement projects and land acquisitions for state parks and an additional $13.6 million in grants to fund 41 local parks and recreation projects across the state.

 A local historical group’s swift adoption of technology and social media promotion of its programming has been rewarded.

The Southport Historical Society will receive the 2021 Albert Ray Newsome Award from the Federation of North Carolina Historical Societies. The Southport Historical Society was chosen for its quantity and variety of high-quality virtual and hybrid programs since March 2020.

N.C. Arts Council Awards Statewide Initiative Grant to N.C. Central University’s Teaching Artist Certificate Program

North Carolina Communities Receive $3.3 Million to Improve, Expand Outdoor Rec Opportunities

The North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation (DPR) recommended 12 local community projects to the National Park Service for grant funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). LWCF is a federal matching grant program to improve and develop outdoor recreation opportunities. To date, 11 projects have received approval.

Local Parks Projects Awarded McIntyre Gift Funds by Parks and Recreation Authority

The Parks and Recreation Authority has awarded three local park projects a total of $491,893 in grants from the bequest of Ms. Barbara McIntyre to the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF). All three selected projects are in Tier 1 Counties.

2021 North Carolina Appalachian Folklife Apprenticeships Announced

The North Carolina Arts Council announced today that five traditional artist teams from western North Carolina have received the third annual North Carolina Appalachian Folklife Apprenticeships awards.
