DNCR Supports Livestreaming Programs for Public Schools in Tier 1 Counties

RALEIGH

To support teachers and student learning at public schools in Tier One counties, the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources is sponsoring free access to Streamable Learning for the 2020-21 school year. Streamable Learning is a platform offering livestreaming educational programs linking content partners and their subject matter experts to thousands of K-12 classrooms around the United States.

DNCR’s sponsorship of this opportunity supports the department’s goal to expand educational opportunities for children across the state through quality online programming to improve access to experiential learning. This is especially important during the pandemic when in-person field trips are not possible. The following DNCR locations are participating as content providers with Streamable Learning: The N.C. Zoo, the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, the N.C. Maritime Museum at Southport, the N.C. Aquarium on Roanoke Island, and the N.C. Museum of Art.

“So far, eight school districts in Tier One counties have expressed interest in using this free resource in their classrooms, and we hope many more will follow,” said Susi Hamilton, secretary of the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. “We are proud to partner with Streamable Learning to provide these much-needed virtual resources to teachers and students in traditionally rural and underserved areas of our state.”

School districts in Tier One counties interested in taking advantage of the free access to Streamable Learning should contact Director of Program Integration Jason Diem at Jason.diem@ncdcr.gov

Based in Charleston, S.C., Streamable Learning is the leading provider of live and interactive video streaming programs to K-12 schools. Each year, Streamable runs over 650 live events from leading museums, zoos, aquariums, art, and historical sites, performing arts centers, and authors, among others to member schools, districts and homeschools in the U.S. and Canada. The Company also operates StreamableU, which offers college prep programming through a similar pre-scheduled live and interactive format. https://streamablelearning.com/about.html
