Claire M. Mufalo

Claire M. Mufalo is the Internal Audit Director for DNCR. With a diverse global background in administrative and financial roles, Claire brings over 20 years of experience across multiple sectors, including mining, public accounting at KPMG Zambia, and state and local government in North Carolina. She has held progressive leadership roles in internal audit, compliance, and fraud investigations at UNC-Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central University, the City of Durham, and the Department of Transportation.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration—finance from North Carolina Central University, an MBA, and a Master of Health Administration from Pfeiffer University. Claire is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified Internal Control Auditor (CICA), and she holds a certificate in Municipal and County Administration from the UNC School of Government.

Based in Durham with her husband, she is the proud mother of three sons and grandmother to two granddaughters. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and cooking and has a passion for fashion, especially shoes and makeup.
