Tryon Palace will host a new Fourth of July "Independence Night" event at the North Carolina History Center, located on New Bern's historic riverfront, Monday, July 4, from 6-9:30 p.m.
The free, fun, family event, "Pork, Pickles and Peanuts: Tastes of North Carolina" at Duke Homestead July 9, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., celebrates North Carolina's food history and culture. It focuses on everything that makes the state taste great with the highly competitive and extremely tasty annual Barbecue Cook-Off and Pie Competition.

Spend this Fourth of July with the State Capitol. The Capitol is hosting a free, fun-filled family event that has become a Raleigh tradition. For the sixth year, a naturalization ceremony for new citizens will take place at noon on the Capitol's south grounds.
