Much of the museum’s collection of antique farming implements and tools were submerged under water and in need of care and cleaning.
This event has been postponed due to Hurricane Matthew.  Blind and visually impaired North Carolinians will get a chance to trade recipes and cooking tips with well-known, blind reality-TV chef Christine Ha at the Governor Morehead School, 329 Ashe Avenue, Raleigh, Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Yesterday, at a historic first joint meeting at the North Carolina State Capitol, the N.C. Historical Commission and the N.C. African American Heritage Commission accepted a draft report summarizing the comments received at eight public hearings held to gather input on plans for a new monument on the State Capitol grounds in Raleigh dedicated to commemorating the achievements of African Americans.
The Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Commission will hold its quarterly business meeting Saturday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to noon at Mount Carmel AME Church, 507 N. Lord St., Southport, N.C.
