- NC Museum of Natural Sciences (2-hour self-guided tour)
- NC Legislative Building (40-minute guided tour)
- NC State Capitol Building (30-minute guided tour)
- NC Executive Mansion (30-minute guided tour)
- NC Executive Mansion Gardens (1-hour guided tour)
- NC Freedom Park (45-minute self-guided tour)
To schedule your group visit to Raleigh and the state government complex, fill out the form below.
Visits must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance; however, earlier scheduling allows more flexibility, permits time for delivery of your written itinerary, and opens more options for your trip. Fridays in March and April may not be available to your group. Plan to have alternate dates that fall earlier in the week.
To allow our guides to make the best use of your group's time, please inform the Capital Area Visitor Services office of any special needs your group or any of its members may have. Please note our chaperone policy requires one adult for every ten children. Restrooms for groups are available after 10 a.m. on the lobby level of the DNCR headquarters building located at 109 E. Jones Street. Please note that there are no family restrooms available, and the building includes a library and office spaces. We ask that you be courteous while using the facilities.
The North Carolina Museum of History announces the start of an exciting transformation! To prepare for the renovation, the third-floor exhibits will close on June 3, 2024. The first-floor exhibits and the physical museum building will close on October 7, 2024. The Museum Shop will remain open to the public until December 29, 2024. In light of these upcoming changes as we adjust our operations, we will only be able to accommodate groups of 30 or less every fifteen minutes starting June 3, 2024. Thank you for understanding. We look forward to working with you in the future!
Effective 10/7/2024: Group lunches must be stored either at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, located at 11 West Jones Street, or on your mode of transportation. If you choose to store lunches at the museum, their frontline staff will provide directions upon arrival. Please note that the NC Museum of Natural Sciences opens at 10:00 AM and is closed to the public on Mondays. If your group plans to visit on a Monday, lunches must remain on your mode of transportation, if this is not possible please contact us at capitalarea.visitorservices@dncr.nc.gov.
