‘Journey to Space’ Exhibition Touches Down at N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences Nov. 2

Do you have what it takes … to live and work in space? Find out at “Journey to Space,” a new exhibition opening at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences on Saturday, Nov. 2.This special exhibition, developed in partnership with NASA's Johnson Space Center, invites visitors to explore the extraordinary environment of space, including the dangers that astronauts face during their missions above Earth and the adaptations that engineers have developed to help them survive while in space.

Butterflies, moths take over natural sciences museum at BugFest Sept. 14

Get buggy with it when the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences hosts BugFest on Saturday, Sept. 14, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Come satisfy all your web weaving, wing flapping, dungball rolling, creepy crawling and (of course) bug munching pursuits in one day!This year, BugFest spotlights butterflies and moths. Did you know that our state butterfly is the Eastern tiger swallowtail? And in 1587, colonist and artist John White depicted the Eastern tiger swallowtail while accompanying Sir Walter Raleigh’s third expedition to the New World.

Educator Open House at NC Museum of Natural Sciences Sept. 26

Calling all educators, you’re invited to visit the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences on Thursday, Sept. 26, 6–8:30 p.m., for the SciREN Triangle Networking Event and Museum Open House. This special night offers an after-hours opportunity to learn more about Museum educational programs and opportunities, as well as access to free lesson plans from local scientists.
