The North Carolina Museum of History is excited to announce a calendar full of free events as spring blooms into full swing!

The Museum of the Albemarle opens its newest poster display, “Choosing to Participate,” on May 8.

The Museum of the Albemarle starts the summer off with the opening of "Are We 
There Yet," on April 19, 2024. 

The North Carolina Museum of History announces the unveiling of Julius Peppers’ 2003 National Football Conference (NFC) Championship ring. It will be displayed in the museum’s lobby starting Tuesday, April 23.

The Museum of the Albemarle opens its newest banner display, Flying Kites with Delia, on April 1, 2024. The exhibit tells the history of kites and their usage in northeastern North Carolina as told by the narrator, Delia, a delta kite.

On Thursday evening, April 11, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., the Museum of the Albemarle and Elizabeth City State University, will host the Max Roach Centennial Celebration Jazz Festival opening night reception with special guest Elizabeth City native, A. B. Spellman.

The Museum of the Albemarle regrets to announce the postponement of Celebration of Regional Tribes, Guardians of the Land:  Discovering Indigenous Americans on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Throughout time, carvers, cabinetmakers, furniture makers, and carpenters have been crafting objects to serve as functional, social, and aesthetic pieces of work.

Music is deeply ingrained into North Carolina’s identity just as much as the peaks of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the rolling fields of the Piedmont or the waves crashing along the coastline.
