Schorr Johnson

Schorr Johnson serves as the Communications Director for DNCR. He has served the state of North Carolina in various communications and executive roles for more than 20 years.

Johnson began his career in a North Carolina congressional office. For four years, he was Communications Director for the President Pro Tempore of the North Carolina Senate and members of the Senate majority. Johnson also worked as Communications Director for North Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor and led communications for the Department of State Treasurer, where he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff. From 2017 through 2021, he served as the Department of Revenue’s Director of Public Affairs.

A native of Statesville, Johnson is a 1999 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in political science. He was a 2011 fellow for the Institute of Political Leadership. Johnson lives in Raleigh with his wife, two children, and various pets.
